DL-808 DRUMSYNTHESIZER
(The modular TR808 CLONE)

It acts with the DL-808 Drumsynthesizer around a TR-808 reproduction in modular form. Were used the original circuit as basis for the circuit design. In the further it thus not exclusively goes around the DL-909 Drumsynthesizer, but there is also many interesting information for the owners of an original TR-808.

The prehistory:

The TR-808 was brought to 1981 by the company Roland on the market. It is, exactly the same as the portable version „TR-606 Drumatix of “one the most popular similar Drumsynthesizer of all times.

Their sound (genuine Percussion instruments to imitate should) is artificial metallic and rather soft.

Why a reproduction? The TR-808 is rare to arise only expensively and super inly demand! Don't make why thus a clone?

The DL-808 Drumsynthesizer:

The DL-808 Drumsynthesizer is a modular developed variant that original TR-808 sound synthese!

With the structure to clearly defined functional units (the drum modules) and a well-thought-out arrangement of the control elements one paid attention. All modules cannot be exchanged among themselves, thus it restriction of the combination and extension possibilities give.

This was realized here by a uniform first shot system (31polig), erhällt by each module the necessary operating voltages. The trigger and Velocitysignale as well as the audio signal are connected also over the Synthesizerbus. In addition the control signals for all modules (10 trigger signals, a rear spar open/CLOSE signal and 10 times Velocity for the attack strength) are connected by the bus system.

The DL-808 Drumsynthesizer is in the 19" Format constructed and can be built into each (studio) rack. For the development/modification of the system simply new drum modules can be used. The maximum number of drum modules is however limited to 10. The front plates are from ALU and have standardized measures. As sockets 6,3mm (mono) Klinkenbuchsen use. The housing was selected under the Gesichspunkten of stability and quality. A very intensive operation can wear thus nothing to the equipment.
